'Can be disastrous': WHO chief on lifting Covid-19 restrictions 'too quickly'

Tedros added that the glaring vaccine inequality has created a 'two-track pandemic’. “We see a two-track pandemic, many countries still face a dangerous situation. While, some with highest vaccination rates are talking about ending restrictions. We have seen a decline in mortality rates in countries with access to vaccines. Lifting restrictions quickly could be disastrous for those who are not vaccinated. High-income countries have administered almost 44% of the world's doses. Low-income countries have so far administered just 0.4% of doses,” Ghebreyesus said. He added, “10% population of all countries must be vaccinated by September, 30% by year-end.
