Описание: India is gearing up for a crucial diplomatic and economic moment as New Delhi and the European Union look to seal a long-pending Free Trade Agreement during the 16th India-EU Summit on January 27. The talks coincide with a high-profile visit by the EU’s top leadership, who will be in India as chief guests for the 77th Republic Day celebrations.

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be on a state visit from January 25 to 27 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with attending the Republic Day parade, the two leaders will co-chair the India-EU Summit with PM Modi, meet President Droupadi Murmu, and hold both restricted and delegation-level talks with Indian leaders.

The summit is expected to focus on trade, investment, supply chains and strategic cooperation — with the long-stalled FTA seen as a potential game-changer for India-EU economic ties.
