In this video, we take object detection on the Raspberry Pi 5 to the next level by using the Coral EdgeTPU USB Accelerator for real-time inference.
We set up two Python environments — one for capturing and sending camera frames over sockets (Python 3.11) and another for receiving and running inference on the Coral EdgeTPU (Python 3.9). Finally, the results are displayed using OpenCV.
With this setup, inference becomes significantly faster compared to CPU-only detection on the Raspberry Pi.
