NHL goaltender Rick DiPietro of the New York Islanders live in action during the second and third period at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa on February 19, 2013.
DiPietro is currently under contract with New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) but playing in the AHL affiliate team the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He was the first overall selection by the Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft and is best known for signing a 15-year contract in 2006.
Injuries limited DiPietro to starting just 47 games in the four NHL seasons from 2008 to 2012. DiPietro was placed on waivers by the Islanders after playing only three games (0-3, 4.09 GAA, .855 save percentage) in the 2012-13 NHL season.
