Operation Blue Star was an Indian military operation that occurred between 1 June and 6 June 1984, ordered by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, to remove separatist religious leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his separatist armed followers from the Golden Temple complex. The biggest fallout of Operation Bluestar was the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi less than five months after the operation. Khalistan's movement took a fast pace after this incident.
