The A483 is one of 3 major north-south roads spanning the length of Wales, running for 154 miles / 247km from the M4 at Briton Ferry near Swansea to city centre Chester. The majority of the road is in Wales, other than a short section around Oswestry, and the final few miles into Chester.
Between the A55 at Chester and Ruabon south of Wrexham, the road is a fast expressway-standard dual-carriageway, but other than this and a short link from the M4 to Swansea, the remainder is single carriageway, although there have been a considerable number of bypasses and straightenings that deviate from its original course.
This video shows a southbound journey along the A483, from junction 1 for the A539 at Ruabon, to the roundabout for the A5 near Chirk.
