Life has a way of whispering new dreams into your heart when the time is right. My name is Tom Corrao, and those dreams came calling louder than ever when I retired from the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department in 2021 after twenty-six years of dedicated service. With my camera in hand, I stepped into the gentle embrace of nature, wandering the shorelines and forests of Kenosha County, capturing quiet moments and stories hidden in plain sight.

Photography became more than a passion; it became the heartbeat of my journey, leading me to create Capturing Kenosha, a Facebook community built around our collective love for images that speak to the soul. But as every true wanderer knows, there comes a time when horizons expand and new adventures beckon. In May of 2024, my wife and I listened to that call, selling our home and hitting the road full-time in our RV, affectionately named the Badger.

Stray Compass Life is our living narrative, a daily blog of poetic storytelling chronicling our travels, reflections, and the beauty found along America’s open roads. Through this YouTube channel, we invite you to join our journey visually, to share not only the breathtaking landscapes and intimate glimpses of wildlife we encounter, but also the deeper reflections of two souls traveling in the autumn of our lives.

In this inaugural podcast episode, you'll discover the essence of who I am, a poet, a photographer, and now, an RV traveler embracing life's endless adventure with my beloved wife at my side. From my earliest images taken after retirement, through the formation of Capturing Kenosha, and finally, stepping boldly into the unknown as Stray Compass Life, every photograph is a chapter, every mile traveled a story.
