Focus: Body Awareness, Efficiency of Movement, and Expressive Control in Music Performance
This video demonstrates a K–12 classroom lesson focused on developing healthy upper-body technique for young musicians. The session emphasizes arm weight, shoulder relaxation, and balanced movement as foundations for tone quality, phrasing, and endurance. Through guided exercises, visual modeling, and student participation, I help students experience how physical freedom enhances musical expression and technical precision.
The lesson integrates physiological understanding with artistic awareness—teaching students to connect movement, breath, and sound. By combining demonstration with reflective questioning, I encourage students to analyze their own posture and coordination, fostering self-awareness. This approach reflects my broader teaching philosophy: that artistry and technique are inseparable, and that mindful physical engagement is central to lifelong, injury-free musicianship.
