Mikaela Shiffrin put in a solid effort but finished just off the podium in 4th place at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup giant slalom in Kronplatz, Italy on January 20, 2026. Austria's Julia Scheib claimed her fourth GS win of the season with a stunning second-run charge, edging out Switzerland's Camille Rast (2nd) and Sweden's Sara Hector (3rd). Federica Brignone impressed with a strong 6th on her injury comeback!
Mikaela said in her interview that her Giant Slalom skiing is getting better and better in every race and finished just .40 off her fist Giant Slalom podium of the 2025-26 season. It appears her confidence is improving heading into the 2026 Olympic Games!
