Envy and jealousy are rebellions against God’s provision and the opposite of love. We must transform our minds by “putting off” envy or jealousy and “putting on” being satisfied with God’s provisions for our life through three steps.

-ENVY WANTS WHAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS.
-JEALOUSY IS A FEAR THAT ANOTHER PERSON WILL TAKE AWAY WHAT IS YOURS.
-Both are self-centered, unloving, and destructive emotional problems

-God is the creator and owner of everything.
-His creations should worship and serve him alone.
-God is right to be jealous when his people worship idols instead of giving him the worship that belongs to Him alone.

7:08 - ENVY IS ULTIMATELY A REBELLION AGAINST GOD’S PROVISION AND THE OPPOSITE OF LOVE.
-Love rejoices over the good of another (Luke 12:15)
-Envy can be overcome by choosing to celebrate another person’s good fortune and speaking of their good qualities.

8:36 - OVERCOMING ENVY AND JEALOUSY MEANS TRANSFORMING YOUR MIND.
By “putting off” envy or jealousy…
-And “putting on” satisfaction with God’s provisions for your life.

12:18 - THREE STEPS TO OVERCOME ENVY OR JEALOUSY:
1. LOVE: UNDERSTANDING GOD’S LOVE FOR US
-Scripture helps us understand that God loves us, so we don’t need to seek love in other things.

14:39 - 2. CONTENTMENT
If you are not content, you are questioning the sovereignty of God.
DEVELOP A LIFESTYLE OF GRATITUDE AND WORSHIP
-Thank God.
-Remind yourself of who you are in God’s family.
-Acknowledge your blessings daily.

16:59 - 3. LOVE: LOVE OTHERS AS GOD LOVES YOU
-Focus less on yourself by serving others
-Godly love rejoices when others are blessed, leaving no space for envy.
-Pray for God’s blessing to be poured out on the person whom you envy!
