US President Donald Trump has given a stern warning to Hamas fighters, as they tightened their grip in Gaza on Tuesday (October 14) after carrying out public executions. In one social media video, confirmed as authentic by a Hamas source, seven men were forced to their knees and shot from behind. Rachel Judah's report contains graphic images from the very start.

In a stark assertion of Hamas' continued presence in Gaza, this video circulated on social media late Monday.

It shows seven men - alleged collaborators with Israel - being dragged into a circle, forced to their knees and then shot from behind.

Reuters has chosen to pause the video, which a Hamas source later confirmed as authentic.

The green headbands worn by some of the masked, armed men in the video matched those worn by Hamas militants.

The identity of the killed men could not be independently verified. The date the video was filmed could not be independently verified, but a Hamas source said it happened on Monday in Gaza City.

Though greatly weakened after two years of Israeli bombardment and ground incursions, Hamas has been gradually reasserting itself, moving back onto the streets since the ceasefire took hold over the weekend.

Residents said fighters have become increasingly visible, deploying along routes needed for aid deliveries.

Palestinian security sources say dozens of people have been killed in clashes between Hamas miltants and rivals in recent days.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has consistently maintained that the war cannot end until Hamas gives up its weapons and ceases to control Gaza.

It's a demand that the fighters have rejected, torpedoing all previous peace efforts.

U.S. President Donald Trump, having announced that the war is now over, said on Monday that Hamas still had a temporary green light to keep order.

Hamas sources told Reuters on Tuesday the group would tolerate no more violations of order in Gaza and would target collaborators, armed looters and drug dealers.
