Final round of 2003 World Rally Championship. Before the start of the rally Richard Burns had blacked out while driving and was diagnosed with brain tumor so he wouldn't take part in this event. He would be replaced by Belgian Freddy Loix.
With Burns out title fight was now between Citroen's Sebastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz and Subaru's Petter Solberg.
Carlos Sainz would bow out of the fight soon though after crashing out of the event. After a hard fight it was Petter Solberg who won the rally and the driver's title ahead of Sebastien Loeb who finished second. Tommi Mäkinen took podium place in his last rally by finishing third. Colin McRae finished his professional career by solid fourth place and helped Citroen to seal their Manufacturer's title victory over Peugeot. Ford's Francois Duval finished fifth ahead of replacement driver Freddy Loix. Privateers Manfred Stohl and Roman Kresta took the rest of the points by finishing seventh and eighth.
