The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, and the United Kingdom
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministerial
Meeting in Durban on Thursday afternoon, announced a historic partnership between the
Department of Public Works and Infrastructure and the United Kingdom to capacitate the
department as it works towards using public assets for the public good and turning South
Africa into a construction site.
The partnership will see the United Kingdom provide expertise and capacity support across
three focus areas announced by Minister Macpherson. It follows a visit by the Minister
alongside Deputy President Paul Mashatile in November 2024.
