This Summer in the Mountains, I got out my 8x10 View camera with Brass Petzval Lens, the last week we were there. Because, thus far, I only use it in the mountains, because I love the trees, I end up having to relearn how to set it up. It goes quicker each time, but I hope eventually it will just be intuitive! I did do some tree photos, but this time I branched out to doing some still-life photos as well. I am happy with the results. I love how dreamy and otherworldly the Petzval lens looks. I'm not looking for perfection; in fact, the opposite is true. In my work, I am hoping to capture that essence of another realm, which exists that we can not see.
I hand-developed the large negatives when I got home, then I scanned them with my Epson scanner. It is not meant to scan 8x10, so I had to make a negative carrier out of mat board to do it. Unfortunately, it does not quite get the entire negative in the scan; the sides are cut off. But, I don't have a drum scanner, so I make due.
You will see my favorites out of the 10 sheets that I developed.
I appreciate you watching my videos. Please ask any questions about the development if you'd like! Please follow my channel if you can. I only need 100 more subscribers to be able to monetize, which will allow me to create more. I very much appreciate it! Enjoy! And I will see you soon with more images from the trip!
