I have purchased land located in the Cascade mountains in Washington state. I call that land the Derby Canyon Retreat, which is our proof of concept and R&D site for all that we are building.

This private 6 acre sanctuary is dedicated to the development of sustainable housing, off-grid technology development, and serves as a proof of concept to a larger vision and plan to provide affordable net-zero housing (Living off the Land!) in a sustainable manner to allow the opportunity of the American Dream for generations to come.

My name is Kevin Moen, my brand is Living off the Land, and I am an experienced real estate investor, business owner, outdoor enthusiast and committed to sustainable living. The Derby Canyon Retreat is currently available for rent on hipcamp.com for outdoor campers and enthusiasts like myself.

I am using my skills as a small business owner, real estate investor, engineer by education and entrepreneur by lifestyle to teach YOU how to become more self reliant. I am leading the way to bring sustainable building practices, technology, and culture to mainstream development and housing.

At the Derby Canyon Retreat I have installed solar power for our newly drilled well, working on an anaerobic digestion outhouse to turn poop into fuel and fertilizer, and building a camper rental in addition to our vacant land campsite. In the future I am planning to build a treehouse, additional rental campsites, possibly a wood-fired hot tub or outdoor wood fire pizza oven!

This is phase one of a three phase business plan to buy raw land to be developed into a net-zero community which produces all of its own food, water and energy.
