Why One Gene ≠ One Disease 🧬

People often imagine one gene causing one disease.
In reality, genetics rarely works that way.
Only a few conditions, such as sickle cell anemia, follow a simple one-gene, one-disease rule. Most genetic disorders are complex and involve multiple genes, each contributing a small or sometimes large effect.
Genes also do not work in isolation. Environment, nutrition, and lifestyle interact with genes and influence how they behave. Because of this complexity, predicting disease from DNA alone is difficult.
Genes set possibilities, not outcomes or certainty.
