Michael Stamm is Associate Professor in the Department of History at Michigan State University. He is a political and cultural historian, and his research is organized around inquiries into media and journalism history.

The prize was presented to Michael Stamm on Monday June 3rd at a public reception held at the National Club, 330 Bay Street, Goldwin Smith Room, Toronto, Canada.

The citation for the winning book reads:
