We typically get really defensive and try to justify or explain away the person's reactions. We often blame them and get angry that they are saying what they are saying. But all that does is makes the relationship fall apart. It creates distance instead of closeness and stirs up all kinds drama. What if you could say this one thing and it could change how that all goes? "I'm sorry, I can see that you are upset. Tell me more about what is upsetting you" (In your own way) makes a HUGE difference in how our relationships play out. Its up to YOU.
