ప్రకాశం జిల్లా దర్శి మండలం, చలివేంద్ర గ్రామానికి చెందిన యువరైతు బాదం శ్రీనివాస రెడ్డి, 20 ఎకరాల్లో దానిమ్మ, జామ వంటి పండ్ల తోటలను సాగు చేస్తూ, 3 ఎకరాల్లో డ్రాగన్ ఫ్రూట్ సాగుతో మంచి ఫలితాలు సాధిస్తున్నారు. ఎకరం భూమిలో ఏడాది క్రితం నాటిన ఈ తోట 2 వ సంవత్సరం నుండి మంచి ఫలితాలు అందిస్తోంది. ఈ ఏడాది ఎకరాకు 3 - 4 టన్నుల దిగుబడి వస్తుందంటున్న ఈ రైతు, ఫామ్ వద్ద కిలో రూ. 200 కు విక్రయిస్తున్నారు. ప్రారంభపు పెట్టుబడి ఎకరాకు 5 లక్షల రూపాయిలు అయినప్పటికీ 3 వ సంవత్సరంలో పెట్టుబడి పూర్తిగా చేతికి వచ్చి, ఏటా ఎకరాకు 5 లక్షలకు తగ్గకుండా నికర లాభం సాధించవచ్చని ఈ యువ రైతు చెబుతున్నారు. నీటి ఎద్దడి తీవ్రంగా వుండే ఈ ప్రాంతంలో తక్కువ నీటితో పండే డ్రాగన్ ఫ్రూట్ సాగు రైతుకు అన్ని విధాలుగా అనుకూలంగా వుంది.
