In this week’s episode, a compact four-level home in urban Bangkok is explored, reimagining vertical living on a narrow site beside a photography studio. Designed by PHTAA Living Design for a photographer friend, AA House rises through a sequence of split levels that replace conventional storeys with stepped platforms, allowing spaces to flow from a social ground floor to kitchen, dining, and living areas defined by light partitions rather than walls. Responding to height restrictions and a frontage of less than four metres, the home maintains visual and spatial continuity across its compact footprint. A restrained palette of raw concrete and white surfaces creates a gallery-like backdrop for the owner’s curated collection, merging the clarity of Brutalism with Japanese minimalism. Skylights and cutouts treat light as a primary architectural element, shifting the atmosphere throughout the day, while a sculptural concrete staircase anchors the home as both structure and focal point.
