Melasma is an acquired dermatosis characterized by hyperpigmentation resulting from increased melanocyte activity triggered by extensive sun exposure, certain medications, hormones, pregnancy, blue light, and genetics.
The pigmentation arises due to excessive melanin synthesis and its irregular distribution within the skin.
The pathogenesis of melasma is primarily associated with aberrant activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which plays a crucial role in stimulating melanocyte proliferation and melanogenesis.
DKK DERM kit consists of a special separation device to isolate and separate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with in increased concentration of DKK-1- a natural inhibitor of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
Intradermal injections of DKK-PRP represent a breakthrough in hyperpigmentation therapy, targeting melanocytes at the cellular level. This treatment inhibits melanocyte activity, thereby suppressing the formation of new pigmentary lesions and facilitating the reduction of existing ones.
