Michael’s two older brothers had to walk through the Delaney projects to get to school every day. This area was a hot spot for gang activity. At first, the gang members were cool with the brothers because they were part of the Jackson Five. But things got more intense when gangs started moving closer to the Jackson family’s block. The Jacksons began witnessing more and more conflicts between rival gangs. What started as fistfights soon escalated into shootouts. There were times when Michael and his family had to hit the deck and duck for cover to dodge bullets.
