Fence 2.0 For My Festool MFT/3 : Multifunction Table

Описание: I bought an MFT/3 knowing I wasn’t a big fan of the fence/protractor setup. I wanted something less cumbersome to setup and remove. I came up with this. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching.

PLEASE NOTE: Now I know I haven't used the table for cutting purposes yet. I wanted to make a few modifications to the table to make it more user-friendly for me before I started using it…this being one of them. Ok…that is all.

So I recently bought myself an MFT/3 and I probably know what you’re thinking. I do prefer this over Kreg adaptive cutting system which is why I bought it. Having said that I have absolutely no desire to set up or use the protractor. Some people like the protractor and clamp set up…that’s fine. I’m not one of them. The fence clamp will most likely sit in the box as I don’t plan on using the fence either. However the flag stop is pretty slick so I may find some use for that down the road. Now the profile I chose for my fence was a 3060 t-slotted profile from 80/20. I wanted to see if I preferred a taller fence to a shorter one and this profile gave me the option to try out both. Next I ordered some 3030 series M8 sliding t-nuts to fit the profile of my extrusion. To help protect the aluminum from getting scratched up and to give me a nice compression fit…I picked up a few neoprene washers from The Home Depot. Now I really didn’t need 20 of these M8 threaded rods but hey…I’m covered when the shop gnomes go after them. Next up we have a few STC-Sets from Bessey. The normal use for the STC-Set is to secure a toggle clamp to a work top that has a 20mm hole…but not today. Lastly grab yourself some thread lock…you’ll see why in a few.

So when you add the hardware to the fence be sure not to over tighten the cylinder. You want the fence to be able to slide back and forth so you can adjust how far or close you want it to your guide rail.

You can see I have some play and that’s good. With my large Johnny square I was able to square the fence up very quickly with a slight nudge and yes...it's that easy.

I’ve always wondered how stable these MFT/3 were and today I found out. Well at least the fence wasn’t moving. Honestly I’ll probably order this profile in the future. I like the flat reference face for the material and I really only need 2 slots. And I’m gonna call this video done.
