Ana Gomes, PhD, Moffitt Cancer Center
In this lecture Dr. Ana Gomes speaks about her findings that methylmalonic acid, a metabolite that accumulates during aging, activates SOX4, a transcription factor involved in cancer initiation and progression. She also discusses the possibility that tumors in the elderly may be uniquely different due to changes in matrix structure, metabolism and signaling and how research to understand these differences may impact cancer therapeutics in this vulnerable population.
