Stare into the darkness and learn some German. ⬛️👂
In this video, we are continuing our descent into madness with the official Goethe-Institut A1 vocabulary list, arriving at the letter O. No fancy lights, no distracting edits—just a black screen and the sounds of a man wondering why the Germans have a special letter for "O" with two dots on top, just to make things more difficult.
Whether you're studying for your A1 exam or you just find the sound of my quiet resignation oddly relaxing, this audio guide covers the essential "O" nouns you need to know.
What’s inside:
✅ English translation
✅ German singular (Der/Die/Das)
✅ German plural forms
✅ Pure audio for deep focus (or a brief nap)
The "O" List:
das Obst | the fruit | die Früchte | the fruits
das Öl | the oil | die Öle | the oils
die Oma | the grandma | die Omas | the grandmas
der Opa | the grandpa | die Opas | the grandpas
die Ordnung | the order | die Ordnungen | the orders
der Ort | the place | die Orte | the places
der Osten | the east
(And that’s about it for "O." It’s a short list, likely because the language ran out of ways to make "O" sounds confusing after the letter K.)
Why a black screen? Because staring at my weary face won't help you remember that "Fruit" (Das Obst) doesn't usually have a plural. Close your eyes, listen to the pronunciation, and repeat after me. Or just drift off and be glad we aren't at the letter "P" yet.
