We were really looking forward to our family break at Billing Aquadrome, but sadly, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing caravan park experiences we’ve had.

We agree that advertised, theres a lot going on here and theres a lot we did not do (mainly because we were only there for 3 nights) but to be honest, we'd have had no idea where to find any of it as we had no maps, no guidance and no welcome!

From arrival, there was no welcome or direction. We were handed wristbands with no explanation of what they were for, told to “drive down to the hut,” and then simply instructed to “take the second left and park anywhere.” That was it — no site map, no information, no indication of where anything was.

It was incredibly difficult to know which facilities were open or where to find them. In fact, we only discovered parts of the site during the children’s trick-or-treat event later in the week.

The pitches themselves were much smaller than advertised, and most caravans — ours included — struggled to fit comfortably. The site overall felt cramped, poorly maintained, and not cared for. When we tried to ask for a site map, the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and we had to listen to two employees shouting and using foul language at each other. Not exactly the family-friendly environment we expected.

The nearby facilities were filthy and clearly not checked regularly. The swimming pool itself was lovely, but the changing rooms were disgusting — hair piled up by the drains, dirt everywhere, and nowhere near enough space for the number of guests.

The children’s entertainment was also very poor. The Halloween trick-or-treat event involved colouring in masks and paper bags while the two staff members running it sat on their phones (I have photos). The actual trail was in pitch darkness, muddy, and unsafe underfoot, with no warning to bring a torch. Each child received just two sweets, and the whole thing felt unorganised and rushed.

The only saving grace was the kindness of other guests who made an effort for the children.

Overall, the site felt chaotic, unclean, and poorly managed. It’s a real shame, because with proper care and organisation, Billing Aquadrome could be a lovely family destination — but right now, in our opinion it’s far from it.
