This is the BMC trip — 4WDs abandoned, rising water and a desperate escape attempt through 500km of flooded Australian outback. The Simpson Desert doesn't flood. Except this time it did. And we were in the middle of it.

Day 8 started as a repair job on a broken Ford Ranger. By Day 9 the rain had arrived. By the time the storm hit on Day 10 the tracks had dissolved, the water was rising and one vehicle had died. When we called for help there was nobody coming. The only option left was to abandon the 4WDs and find a way out on foot.
