Former North College Hill H.S. student sentenced to correctional program for sex video

Описание: CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A former North College Hill high school student is headed to a program at River City Correctional Center for approximately six months for sharing a video of himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Jeremiah Horton must also register as a Tier 2 sex offender for the next 25 years.

Horton pleaded guilty in April to a reduced charge of attempted pandering of sexually oriented matter involving a minor. He had shared that video with some classmates.

During his sentencing, Horton read a brief letter in which he apologized to the victim and to his family. "I'm not proud of what I did, I'm not proud of what happened over the past nine months. I would like to apologize to my father, he's a single parent who works hard to provide for me and the public humiliation I have caused him."

Judge Patrick Dinkelacker could have sentenced Horton to prison. "With the stroke of this pen I could send you to prison for three years. I don't think that's appropriate but you did something you shouldn't have done, obviously, and there's a price to pay."

Judge Dinkelacker warned him not to violate his probation after his release. If he does, the judge told Horton he would spend time in prison. "If you come back in front of me for a community control violation, I will sentence you to 36 months in the Ohio Department of Corrections. We're not playing anymore."

While the victim did not request that Horton spend time in prison, her mother said Horton's actions have negatively impacted her. Judge Dinkelacker asked him to image that this had happened to his sister or someone in his family that he cared for.

While Horton was expelled, he is working on his education online. He hopes to return to a high school when he's completed his program.

According to its website, River City Correctional Center offers an alternative to prison to rehabilitate non-violent, felony offenders.
