WHAT IS IBS?: common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits.
Some symptoms are: Abdominal pain, often cramping or bloating
Diarrhea or constipation
Changes in bowel habits (e.g., frequent bowel movements or infrequent bowel movements)
Gas
Bloating
Mucus in the stool
Key fact: IBS is a chronic condition, but most people with IBS can manage their symptoms and live full and active lives. With proper treatment and lifestyle modifications, many people with IBS can significantly improve their quality of life.
