Vanlife / Montserrat Caves, Spain March 2022

Описание: We visited Las Cuevas de Collbato also known as Coves de Salitre in the Montserrat mountains in Spain. It was great fun and so informative. The caves are just below Montserrat near the village of Collbató.

👣 The visit is only 7euros per adult and with a guided tour. It starts with 10 minutes of a little explanation, 20minutes of seeing a video, and about 40minutes of walking around the cave with the guide informing you all along the way. The walk was the most interesting part. There are lots of stairs up and down. There were 244 up to the entrance and then a further 500 inside. Well worth it although I must say our knees were aching a little after. Need to get fitter!

⛪ Before arriving up at the caves we had a picnic and went to visit the local church the Ermita de la Salud, Collbató where there were beautiful views across the mountain range. The hermitage dates from the second half of the 19th century, it was destroyed during the Civil War in 1936-1939 and later rebuilt and there's parking there but not much. It was right for Florry but we managed. I think in the season it may get very busy up there.

We’re Chris, Cat, and Rolo our chocolate labrador. We live full time in our self-converted 7.5 tonne DAF LF 45 Lorry traveling around Europe. We've traveled in motorhomes for over 15 years all over Europe and I cat lived in a motorhome in NZ traveling over 25 years ago with my girls then aged 3 months and 3 years old. Motorhoming and traveling are not new to us it been a way of life for many years but we decided life is too short and we wanted to live a simpler life and go full time. We downsized from a 4 bedroom family home to buy our 7.5-tonne lorry and spent two years converting our lorry to become our tiny home on wheels. it was a grueling and hard slog building our own tiny home on wheels but worth it in the end, as we have our own unique home to travel with on wheels.
