Sri Sri Karunamoyee Kali Mandir
The sacred Sri Sri Karunamoyee Kali Mandir traces its origins to 1760 AD, when Sri Nandadulal Roy Chowdhury of the illustrious Sabarna Roy Chowdhury family enshrined the idol of Maa Karunamoyee, sculpted from a black touchstone revealed to him in a divine vision.
The site, on the banks of the Adi Ganga, has long been a revered seat of Adi Kali worship, home to the ancient Panchamundi Asan and surrounded by twelve Shiva temples. Originally crowned by a grand Navaratna temple, the shrine has undergone several reconstructions, the most recent inaugurated in 1985 by Revered Swami Shivarupananda Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Mission.
Through centuries of change, the idol of Maa Karunamoyee and the twelve Shiva Lingas have remained untouched, continuing to draw devotees seeking blessings, peace, and spiritual strength.

In 2001, the Managing Trustee of Sri Sri Karunamoyee Kali Mandir, Shri Ashok Roy Chowdhury, inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of “Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva” — serving humanity as the worship of God — founded Karunamoyee Maa Karunamoyee Ramakrishna Sevashram. The Sevashram was envisioned as an extension of the temple’s spiritual legacy, dedicated to combining bhakti (devotion) with seva (service). One of its most significant milestones has been the establishment of a residential home for children with the generous support of patrons and devotees. This home provides shelter, education, and holistic care to underprivileged children, enabling them to grow up in an environment filled with love, discipline, and moral values.

Cultural and Religious Programs that uphold the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

Humanitarian Service in times of need, reflecting the belief that every act of service is worship.

Activities of Karunamoyee Maa Karunamoyee Ramakrishna Sevashram.
At Panchavati Ananda Ashram, currently 25 underprivileged children have been accepted as students. Students participate in various competitions and earn prizes.
Free Homeopathy, allopathy, and eye treatment are available for financially poor people.
Every year at Labpur Phullara Peethasthan in Birbhum, clothes are distributed among the poor villagers and lunch is provided to 2000 people.
Night meals are distributed to the citizens of Sodepur area 3 days a week through a joint initiative of Karunamayee Maa Karunamayee Ramakrishna Sevashram and Vivekananda Adarsha Milan Mandir.
Food is distributed on Sundays at Indrani Park, Ramakrishna Pathachakra.
In Madhupur and Mudidih village of Purulia, among 400 people clothes are being ditributed and due to drinking water problems, a new water tap is being installed.
A new coaching center has been opened with 55 children at free of cost.
Winter clothes have been distributed to 100 children in Mudidih village, Purulia.
In Purulia, Bankura, and Bishnupur, poor girls are given Prasadi Banarasi sarees as a gift from Maa Karunamayee for their marriage.
The temple distributes dinner to an old age home in Haridevpur once a week.
A free health camp was organized by Aristos Physio Clinic on the occasion of Republic Day on 26th January 2025.
Every Saturday, ‘Maa Karunamoyee Annapurna Bhandar’ a free bhog distribution is served in the temple premises from 12 noon to 1.30 pm.
Every year, starting on January 1st, the Kalpataru festival is celebrated with great fervor for 5 days in the presence of monks.
Daily puja, aratrik bhajans and birthday celebrations of Sri Sri Thakur, Sri Sri Maa and Swamiji are observed.
