Today, the majority of battery-grade graphite is processed in China, creating cost volatility and geopolitical risk.
This film follows an alternative path already underway.
From quartz mining and silicon production in the American Midwest to battery-ready materials engineered in California, we trace how abundant U.S.-sourced metallurgical silicon can replace graphite in lithium-ion batteries. Silicon is one of the most abundant elements in the Earth’s crust, and when engineered correctly, it can deliver higher energy density, faster charging, lower cost, and reduced lifecycle emissions.
