Need to Bond it? RELTEKiT (TM).
Demo on bonding LDPE and Titanium that was previously primed with one of RELTEK's Primers.
*Previously primed with RELTEK primer/adhesion promoter C-52 (in this example).
[For the demo on Applying RELTEK’s Primers/Adhesion Promoters, see separate video: • Applying RELTEK Primers/Adhesion Promoters ]
*Will later do Tensile testing on this sample.

ITEMS USED/NEEDED:
Primed Substrate (Titanium pucks primed with RELTEK C-52 in this example)
Polyethylene/Substrate (Borealis LE6006 in this example formed into 1x1 squares)
Hot Plate or similar heating surface
Heat Lamp or other additional heating if needed
Thermal coupling with temperature reading
Protective Gloves
Cotton-tip stick (ex. “Q-Tip”)
**IMPORTANT: **
PRIOR to bonding, first clean/prime/prepare the substrates that will be bonded.
See our separate video on Applying RELTEK Primers ( • Applying RELTEK Primers/Adhesion Promoters ).
STEPS:
1. Put first Puck onto Hot Plate.
2. Put LDPE on Puck to melt.
3. Bring melt temperature of polymer to at least 210-220+ degrees centigrade/~400 degrees Farenheit (depending on polymer).
4. Add additional heat if needed, such as a Heat Lamp.
5. Once at melting point (~160 degrees centigrade), add 2nd puck on top.
6. Aim for 210-220 degrees centigrade. Lower heat lamp closer down, so both pucks get to heat range above 200 degrees centigrade, and 215-220 degrees centigrade for interface.
7. Clean up sides as melting.
8. Turn off heat- Leave pucks on plate, let cool to relax and avoid delamination from thermal shrinkage
9. Cut off excess melted sides.
10. If out of alignment, reheat enough to move pucks to alignment and re-cool and re-trim.
In 5-6 days later the tensile testing can occur, allowing full adhesion and migration.
