This video is going through the basics of how Collie coats work.
They get big beautiful coats around 2, but it depends if the line is heavily coated dogs or not. The boy here comes from a fluffy line! He's also not 2 and has blown a lot of his coat already.
Males "Blow coat" once a year, near their birthday. Females blow coat twice a year, around their heat.
It is not the same as shedding! So they are not as spooky as they appear. They don't shed consistently, and you only have to deal with the coat blowing for a couple months out of the year generally.
Collies are absolutely great dogs when socialized. Calcifer here came from an awesome breeder.
If getting a puppy, make sure your puppy has had their eyes checked by a vet before taking your baby home.
Collies can be barkers, Calcifer isn't. But remember training is important!
They are great with kids and love to chill with you on the tile.
