Why Consider Respite?
Caring for a family member with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities at home is a personal choice that comes with an enormous amount of daily effort. However, people who make that decision are blessed with many rewards. Family members and caregivers repeatedly tell us that the daily joy and benefits definitely outweigh any challenges. That said, it’s critical that caregivers also care for themselves.

When to Think About Respite
The Skills Respite Home supports people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities if their primary caregiver needs to travel, seek medical care, take care of personal tasks, or simply relax and rejuvenate.

Thoughtfully Designed
The respite home was newly constructed specifically for Skills and incorporates many design features to best support people living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Seamless flooring transitions throughout the home make it easy to navigate in a wheelchair. Contrasting wall and floor tiles make it possible for people with depth perception and other vision challenges to move throughout the home easily and safely.

Supportive Services
In addition to providing day-to-day support, we can coordinate ancillary services such as behavioral support, community participation, employment services, and transportation to day programs, vocational training programs, or other supporting services as needed.
