In days to come online teaching will pick up steam until schools and colleges are safe to reopen. Teachers from primary school to college may prefer online teaching to class room teaching as social distancing may become the norm for the near future.
Teachers who are so far used to blackboard teaching in class rooms can do the same online but will have to learn newer methods. Teachers will have to become students to learn something new. As it is said, 'learning is a continuous process'. There is always a sense of achievement and happiness when you have learnt something new whether it is a new hobby or skill or a new recipe.
There are huge opportunities in online teaching. so teachers would need to innovate a little in order to deliver their lectures online with easily available materials at home. One can use so many methods.
In this video I will show you how to record a video of your handwriting on a sheet of A 4 paper using your phone camera and share it online. Rest assured that you will not need to buy anything and can use things available in all households to construct an overhead smart phone camera mount. Once that is done, you can proceed to write on paper on your desk, capture the video, edit it and share it online.

Let's proceed to the set up.
Here it is: I have two piles of books placed on boxes on my center table with sufficient clearance and distance between them to support the top frame . You will have to heed to a few principles .
The first principle is that you need a stable frame to rest your camera..
The second principle is that the distance between the phone camera should be roughly the same distance at which it is usual and proper to keep it without causing eye strain, roughly twelve inches. You can get this elevation by placing two piles of books on your centre table and resting the ends of the frame on them.
The third principle is that the possibilities are limited only by what materials you have at home. If you want to get better gadgets later online, there are table top phone holders available for this specific purpose.
In this video, I will show you two methods of making an overhead phone camera frame.
The first one is made of two metal hangers which have been intertwined . These are placed over two piles of books.
The second one utilizes a paper tray of your printer.
The sheet of paper is placed below and can be taped to stabilize it while writing.
You can see both the methods in these two pictures.
If you want to go paperless we can use a tablet with a stylus. You may need to download a writing app such as Write from the play store.
After you have recorded your lecture, you can edit and share it online.
In case you like to live stream your lecture to several students at a particular time you can do this also if you have a YouTube account with more than one thousand subscribers.
If you like this video give it a big thumbs up. Kiindly subscribe to my YouTube channel Madras joint replacement centre MJRC if you have already not done so and smash the bell icon to receive notifications of new videos. I like to hear if you have any other innovative ideas to accomplish the same thing.
I'll see you in the next video
