Hi guys, recently I stumbled up on the P4K2Alexa Powergrade and LUTS by Juan Melara, which emulate the Arri Alexa characteristics to the BMPCC 4K. So me and my buddy Felix went out to shoot and put them to test. I also wanted to compare them to the LUTS I'm currently using to convert my log footage into Rec709: the Buttery Natural LUT. This is by no means a scientific test, nor am I considering myself a professional colorist. Infact this was my first time using DaVinci Resolve (boy, what have I missed all those years!!). I also have never shot or even come close to an ARRI Alexa. I still thought this might be interesting for some people out there, because I for one am really impressed with the P4K2Alexa Powergrade/LUTS. I like the colors, especially on the skintones and the different variations of the LUT, which give you more dynamic range in some shots. So, what do you guys think? And also if you have any questions, let me know!
Some more tests I did here:
how practially is HFR 23.976 and 120fps in 2K 16:9 for run and gun and how does it hold up upscaled to 4K (I normally use my Sony a7iii for that)
how gloomy is the Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 in direct sunlight together with an ND Filter
how bad is the flaring without a matte box shooting in sunlight
how good is the IQ on the Mavic Mini and is it possible to grade it
Camera: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (BMPCC 4K)
Codec: BRAW 8:1
ISO: 400
Lens: Sigma Art 18-35mm
Adapter: Metabones Ultra
Filter: Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4; Variable ND
Drone: Mavic Mini
