Musique Automatique : Bohai [randomized ambient w/ Digitakt]

Описание: I thought it was time to revisit the "virtual tape loop" technique from that amazing Loopop video. This time however, all the loops were sampled from my newest toy, the 0-Coast. I'm sooo impressed by what this synth can do!

Here is the video from Loopop explaining this technique :    • Sampler trick: Steve Reich/William Basinsk...   It's pretty simple, I have 8 loops running free, one on each audio track. As they have different length and are not synced together by the sequencer, they slowly shift in time and continuously create new configurations. On top of that, I have very slow LFOs modulating the volume of each track. These LFOs are running free and have different speeds, which adds another layer of unpredictability to the overall structure of the track. I also used the MIDI loopback to get 8 more LFOs which I used to modulate the Reverb Decay Time, the Delay Feedback and the Delay Reverb Send to give more dynamic to the mix. I also set up a MIDI track to trigger a slow fade-in at the beginning, that's why I hit the track button instead of Play.

The 8 loops were recorded from the 0-Coast, with its line output going directly into the Digitakt. All loops were pitched down and I applied some filters here and there. The sound from the 0-Coast is just beautiful on its own, the bass are super warm but it can also produce lovely glassy plucks in the high range, I love it.

And that's about it! What you hear is the Digitakt going through Ozone 5 for some light mastering. No FX added but the fade-out was made in the DAW.


I'm really happy with the result, this technique is very fun to work with and I just can't get enough of the 0-Coast sound. Hope you like it too, thank you so much for watching, peace.
