Woodturning...Mahagony Vessel with Malachite Inlay Handles..."Scottish Quaich "

Thanks for taking the time to view this video. Today's project is a sweet little piece that I wanted to try...a handled vessel, aka a Scottish Quaich, which is a ceremonial love cup that two people can hold, signifying trust of giving drink to each other.
So, this chunk of mahagony came from a salvage yard and supposedly was submerged under water and salvaged. I have never had mahagony this soft before and was quite easy to turn, but the grain was almost too soft and seemed to almost disintegrate as I turned it. Nevertheless, it turned out as I expected and I am happy to share it with you. I also wanted to try something different by turning it with the handles, eventually adding an inlay of beautiful crushed Malachite stones in a carved out design.
