EDIT: Just got back from the fridge and turned it on from a completely OFF state. Fridge was warm of course. Maximum measured draw was 5.5A @ 14.0V giving me just under 80W. In a period of about 5 minutes, the current draw dropped to about 4.3A ... remember the fridge was totally warm so the compressor was working hard. A couple of minutes later it dropped to about 3.6-3.7A draw at 14V.
I don't "feel" this is out of spec. I suspect the initial draw is probably double that which is normal for an electric motor to draw a lot when it first powers up.
