‘Africa Is Awakening’: Lavrov Backs Multipolar World and Slams Western Neocolonialism

Speaking at a press conference, Lavrov said this awakening is now deeply rooted across Africa and reflects a broader historical shift toward a multipolar world order.

Lavrov also said the world is entering a long transition period toward multipolarity, calling the process inevitable and already recognised by major global players. He pointed to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for a Council for Peace as proof that even Washington understands the need to work with other power centres.

The Russian foreign minister described the Trump administration as pragmatic, saying it is ready to take into account the interests of partners, including in efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Lavrov also criticised Western institutions like the OSCE, accused Europe of trying to derail US-Russia dialogue on Ukraine, and warned against attempts to rearm Kyiv under the cover of ceasefire proposals.
