But it still felt heavier than it should have.
It was the first brand new car we ever bought. We chose it because it was safe. Responsible. Grown-up.
And I realized something uncomfortable about myself in the aftermath — about control, competence, and why I work so hard to prevent problems before they happen.
When my daughter wrecks her first car someday, I’ll tell her we’ll figure it out.
So why is it harder to say that to myself?
