Hello and welcome to my channel 👋
It’s not a secret that I am big food fanatic. Therefore, I’m always in a search of good quality none expensive places that make food with a passion. Now that I and @juliuskaveckas
are travelling around Europe, we try to explore the local cuisine of every country we visit. At the moment we are in Greece. The food variety in Greece is so big. There is traditional food served in Tavernas and grilled food which is more like fast food eaten on the go.
I’m going to do a little series to show the places we visit and the foods we try. Hope you enjoy it 😊
Today we said goodbye to our wonderful host and a beautiful accommodation in Arillas town. So we headed down to the south of Corfu. Our first stop was Porto Timoti viewpoint, a stunning beach with clear blue water. At the following viewpoint, we saw the first snow on the Albanian mountain range in the National Park Fir of Hotovë-Danielli. We then stoped to look at the Angelokastro, an ancient castle on top of a hill. Continuing on we stopped at the Monastery of Paleokastritsa. There we enjoyed a beautiful views of the cliffs in the Ionian sea. Cats must have liked this spot too, there were so many of them wandering around. There was also a peacock farm right beside the Monastery of Paleokastritsa. It took us a while to find an open place to get lunch. We found a lovely taverna in Agios Mattheos. A lovely lady in the Pavlos’Taverna served us some delicious Greek food. Between myself and Julius we shared a portion of tzatziki with fresh bread. For the main dish, Julius had roasted lamb with fries. I read online that the fries in Corfu are cooked in olive oil, so I think it makes them a little bit healthier. Don't know how true is that. For my main dish, I ordered moussaka. It's a pie (similar to Irish Sheppards pie) made with layered potatoes, minced meat, aubergine, tomato and béchamel sauce on top. It was very tasty and heartwarming. The total bill was€32 including started, soft drinks and tips.
