Portrait lighting on location can be a real challenge, and it’s mainly because outdoor lighting is constantly changing. Different times of day, varying weather conditions, changing seasons, diverse locations, shooting from different angles, being under the shade or in the sun—all these factors can make things very tricky to deal with and even challenging for seasoned photographers. So, how do we tackle this? Where do we begin?
When faced with something that seems super complex, the first step is to simplify. Break it down into smaller, manageable parts. In this video, I’ll walk you through the 4 most common lighting scenarios you'll encounter when shooting outdoors. I'll show you how to use your off-camera flash (OCF) to handle each of these scenarios with ease. By the end of this video, I’m sure you’ll feel a lot more confident the next time you’re out there shooting in the wild.
