As is tradition whenever I go to Christchurch, I spent some time filming the vintage trams in the city centre (there's a second tram line out at Ferrymead, which I also visited on this trip). The current line first opened in 1995, but it's purely a tourist operation, as indicated by the ticket price (a staggering $40.00 - NZD for a day pass, with no single-trip tickets available).
In any case, this video features five members of the fleet in operation, including the iconic Restaurant Tram (ex-Melbourne 'W2' class No. 411) and the recently restored Christchurch 'Hills' tram No. 24, which returned to service in December 2023.
