Wargaming on the cheap: Paper miniatures, printed at a public library, "assembled" at home in a day.

I'm on a restricted income so I can't afford plastic or metal miniatures - they're always going to be out of my price range.
But that doesn't mean I can't still play some kind of wargame...if I use my head to put something together.
I created a template for 28mm figures with paper. In paint.net, a free paint program, I added 3d model images of infantry and cavalry. Then went to the public library, printed out the images, returned home and cut them out and glued them together.
I now have over 400 toy soldiers across two armies of infantry and cavalry ready to play in some simple wargames.
Sure - it won't win any Golden Demon painting awards but for the price, it can't be beat. Probably the only cheaper method would be to affix toothpicks to chocolate tiny teddies as spears and march them across a giant cheesecake to do battle, with edible dice.
Thanks,
Matt
