Soo Line in the Windy City: Dan Hadley’s Chicago Tour (1990)

Описание: In this video, C. Vision Productions takes you back to 1990, as videographer Dan Hadley explores the Chicago area in search of Soo Line trains operating on former Milwaukee Road trackage. To begin our show, we’ll visit Bensenville Yard, situated along Metra’s “Milwaukee West Line”, officially known as the Elgin Subdivision. Trains are captured passing Tower B17 at the west end of Bensenville Yard, along with a quick glimpse inside of the tower. Footage of Bensenville’s locomotive facility is also included. We then move east to capture the SOO’s Kingsbury Switcher “street running” and serving customers along Kingsbury Street, as well as on Goose Island. The skilled crew is seen negotiating tight clearances and avoiding countless vehicles while they go about their assigned duties. SOO 1506, a former Milwaukee Road MP15AC, was the sole power for this fascinating operation on the day of our visit. Next, we move up to the “Milwaukee North Line”, also known as the C&M Subdivision, where we’ll view four trains in the Chicago suburb of Edgebrook. One train each from Metra, Amtrak, SOO, and Wisconsin & Calumet (WICT) pass by our camera before the day comes to a close. The Wisconsin & Calumet’s F-units put on quite a show as they passed by Mr. Hadley’s camera. In our final segment, trains of the Soo Line, CSX, and Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB) are seen passing through the exceptionally busy railroad hotspot of Blue Island. Some of the locomotive models that you’ll see in this program include NW2, SW1500, MP15AC, GP15T, GP38-2, GP40, GP40-2, SD39, SD40, SD40A, SD40-2, SD60, F7A, F40C, F40PH, and B36-7.
