There is one pistol that is likely to be nerfed, but across the board pistols feel a bit weaker in Borderlands 4 compared to previous entries like Borderlands 2. However with a good build we can make these pistols a lot better. The unfortuante part is that you have to use Rafa's bullet buddy deluxe, Harlowe's ammo regen or Vex witchy trigger finger to keep firing as some of these have only 4 bullets in the magazine. Pistols are a fun playstyle and will likely see more buffs
