He measures rooms no one complains about — doorways, chandeliers, breakfast nooks, and the space above wardrobes where dust gathers its thoughts. He believes ceilings have feelings, and that some rooms are simply too low for the ambitions they shelter.
He apologises for ducking.
Buildings, he suspects, appreciate being noticed.
Outdoors, he prefers not to measure at all.
In a world that rarely looks up, Mr Pritchard ensures there is always enough room to breathe.
