In this video I use magenta, yellow and cerulean plus black and white to swatch colours. From a very limited colour palette you can make so many beautiful hues and I show you some of the paints that I mix and how much fun it is just to experiment with colour. Just mixing up new colours can feed the soul. Limited colour palettes make for a very harmonious image so its a really worthwhile exercise and I would recommend for anyone to have a go! It will teach you a lot about colour!
Secondly I paint some thumbnails/colour studies from the swatches and see how the colours work together and play with different combinations.
Lastly I choose one of these colour studies and play with a finish piece of work (it perhaps doesn't go entirely to plan) but I show you a bit of my process and play with sgraffito again. Enjoy!
